NO BORDERS: FEAST ON THE SQUARE

Presented by The Royal Court

Theatre maker

A three course meal, a 13-piece dinner. Eaten collectively. Devoured individually. Born on this island, born outside of it. Arepas soaked in Hungarian stew. A meeting of sorts. A debate. A feast among friends and audiences. A look in the past to establish the present. A demolition. A question.

Eleven writers, performers and theatre makers met over the course of six months at the Royal Court to wrestle with the question "what is political theatre?". The result was a collection of new works that interrogated national identity, complicity and the very building we met in.

β€œIt was sharing with the audience as if they were guests...But there was  something else beneath that, that almost took the carpet from under their feet.” - Howlround
